Summer Arts Events in Muskoka

Blog by Ragan Zilic Lovegrove | July 7th, 2015

Muskoka is a hub for the arts, especially through the summer. With everything from art shows to concerts and everything in between, there is sure to be an arts event to suit every group. We have chosen four of our favourite events offered this summer.

1. Huntsville Festival of the Arts
Founded in 1993, the HFA has become one of Canada's most significant arts festivals. The festival hosts a range of artists from classical to contemporary artists, and also has dance, theatre, literature and cultural events and activities. Huntsville's new Algonquin Theatre is the primary venue, offering a comfortable and state of the art theatre for a number of performances. A number of artists are featured this summer including the Jim Cuddy Band, the Leahy family and Lunch at Allen's to name a few. The festival runs throughout the year, with most events occurring in July and August.

2. The KEE to Bala
The Kee, located in Bala, is an iconic Muskoka tradition, with a range of concerts in their summer music line up. With artists like Tim Hicks, The Arkells, Brett Kissel and Sam Roberts Band, there will always be a musical event to appeal to any taste.

3. Cottage Country Comedy Festival
The CCF has been under production for over 8 years now, and features a number of North American comedians at locations throughout Muskoka. Over the years this event has grown from a weekend festival to a multi-production event throughout the summer.

4. Muskoka Arts and Crafts Summer Show
This show is Muskoka's oldest and largest outdoor art show. Featuring more than 200 Canadian artists this year, the show is taking place in Annie Williams Memorial Park from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19. There are exhibitors for almost every art form ranging from basketry to clothing to furniture and more!
