Get Crafty
Muskoka has so much talent – everywhere you turn you can’t help but realize what a special place this is. Whether you’re an artist yourself, or you just appreciate creative work by others, Muskoka Arts & Crafts has something for you. Their Spring Members’ Show is coming up this month, or you can check out their calendar of events to find something that fits your schedule.
Music Fest in Gravenhurst
Looking for some live music to round out your night on the town? Look no further than Peter’s Players in Gravenhurst. From Jazz to Blues, Peter Swanek makes fun happen, with regular shows by world class musicians. There are also a wide variety of other musical events happening in the Gravenhurst area, like this show at the Gravenhurst Opera House
Port Carling Coffee House Gathering
Gravenhurst isn’t the only town with live music, either. The Muskoka Place Gallery in Port Carling also holds monthly Coffee House events in the fall and winter seasons. This month they are hosting Gathering Sparks – come on out and hear Eve Goldberg & Jane Lewis weave a textured folk/roots tapestry of finely tuned songs.
Untapped at Deerhurst
You’ve heard me mention before that one of my favourite musicians in Muskoka is Tobin Spring, and he is one of many talented local artists joining together this year at Untapped with Muskoka Blues Connection. You can come for the concert alone, stay for dinner and sample from the Muskoka Brewery, or even stay overnight at the Deerhurst Resort for this event.
Grab Some Friends
Visit Sawdust City Brewing Company this March and enjoy Team Trivia Nights with a group of friends, experience music by David Stone and many other amazing musicians, and don’t forget to to try their award-winning craft beer. Check out their calendar of events for the schedule.
A Great Place for Date Night
Looking for a place to take that special someone? Spring or fall, one of my favourite restaurants in Muskoka is Crossroads in Rosseau. I love this restaurant for its ambiance and for the view of the lake. The food quality is always great and they even have gluten free options for those of you like me that have food intolerances. Either way, you’re in for a treat.
Improve Your Cooking
Getting out on the town doesn’t have to mean a weekend – why not try something different and learn how to cook Gluten Free recipes? No one will ever know they are GF – I promise! Muskoka Natural Food Market (one of my favourite spots) is hosting Gluten-Free and Vegetarian Cooking Classes, and they even host a monthly concert series with some amazing acts – this month they’re hosting Great Lake Swimmers.
